While many places have very metaphorical names, Saheliyon ki Baari has a very simple one. And the Name reveals all that there is to this beautiful garden. Why is it named Saheliyon ki Baari? Let’s go back in time and relive history.
Story Time Folks- The King of Mewar Dynasty Maharana Sangram Singh built this beautiful Courtyard or Garden for his Queen and gifted her this cute little architectural marvel. However, when the Queen married Maharana Sangram Singh she was accompanied by 48 maidens! And thus these 48 maidens were always with the Queen whenever she would visit the Baari or courtyard. Even today as you walk through a very grand entrance that has beautifully lined lush greenery paving the way, with fountains that produce intricate designs, it is almost amusing to see a garden so modern built back in the day. The Baari dates back to the year 1734. The Garden was built as a relaxation and rejuvenation spot for the Royal Ladies.
People in Udaipur might have a lot of choices to spoil them but in their hearts, they’re just peace-loving and soul-loving people. They will choose lake Fateh Sagar and a cup of tea with friends over malls and expensive coffees. They will always choose heart over their minds and peace over the greatest of luxuries. People here truly value life and the little things in it. So much so that you will come across an art gallery below most of the houses which symbolizes how expressive the residents are. Throughout your trip, you can feel the soul of the song Dum-a-Dum mast kalandar from Dhanak. The city offers one thing every individual tries to seek, which is loving yourself.
